I had quite the morning today. As you know Nick is out of town and my wonderful, great, awesome-ist friend Angie is staying with me. So this morning we are about ready to leave to take Davis to his little school and I grabbed Davis and was carrying him out to the car because when Nick is gone I don't park in the garage, just one of my paranoia crazy things I do. On the way out to the car I asked Angie if she could grab Davis's food for me. Well, not thinking to tell her that I don't have my keys or purse with me Angie shuts the front door behind her.
So, as you can imagine where this is leading to we are locked out of the house. Angie pulls out a credit card and attempts to try to break into the house soon we realize there is no way you can break into the front door using a credit card. We walk around to the side door that leads into the garage of course everything is dead bolted so it is impossible to break in. Continue to the back yard...yep no way getting in through the back door either and the windows are the same and there is no way you can open them from the outside. We keep thinking and talking about if there is only a way that we can get into the garage then we know that we could break in using a credit card through the door that leads into the house from the garage.
Angie has her purse with her and her phone so we try to call Nick...no answer, we try to call John....no answer! So, then I run over to the neighbors to see if they can help us. Their cars are parked in the driveway but no one is answering the door. I walk back to the house Angie calls her dad to ask what we should do. Do we try to break a window or call a locksmith? Not before to long Angie is on the phone with the locksmith, which I won't even tell you what they quoted us.... then I see my neighbors coming out of their house so I run over there tell them what happened and they come over try to use the credit card on the front door again after we just spent a half an hour attempting it ourselves, of course it doesn't open. Then they ask the simple question "Don't you have a garage opener". Can we say D-U-H??? This whole time Angie and I were trying to break in through the front door but also knowing that if somehow we could just get into the garage then we could break into the house through the door the leads into the house.
Here were our scenarios just so you know how two pregnant chics think when they are locked out of the house. Here we are thinking maybe we should break a window on the side door of the garage and reach in and unlock the door and then we could break into the house from the door on the inside that leads into the house, but of course it would be risky because what if we broke a window and then still couldn't break into the house. Or is there somehow we can use our burley muscles and pregnant strength and push the garage door open. Or can we remove one of the windows that are on the outside of the garage door and somehow squeeze our 6 months belly's into a little hole to get into the garage?? These are all of the options that we came up with. I am a little embarrassed to say that having a garage opener wasn't even one of them so I guess Angie and I are just witnesses and are proof to how you have absolutely no brain cells when you are pregnant!!

In your defense, we've only had a garage for a little over a year. so garage door openers are not the first thing that comes to mind when you're locked out of a house! but taking one of the windows out of the garage and crawling through with a big ole' belly!! can't help you there. those windows are like 5-6 ft off of the ground. are you going to go through and then hit the ground and role? were you thinking of using davis since he's smaller???
Ok, I feel soooo dumb. I know that my brain has been off these last few months since I have been pregnant, but I didn't realize how much until yesterday! Yikes!
I hate those doors that lock automatically. I have the same type doors and am always locking myself out. Luckily my parents live up the road and have a key to my house, so I just go over there!
Ok, so John said that it was worse that I was here, because I'm supposed to be helping you out, but instead I'm just causing trouble!
Jessie, this is pretty sad, but since you guys are 2 preggies (by the way, tell Angie congrats from Ryan and me) working together you have a pretty solid excuse built in for these kinds of things. I wouldn't feel too bad. I'm so ready to get my brain back it's not funny, but it takes me about 7-8 months after delivering before I feel smart again. Oh well.
That is pretty funny. But I have to say that I'm not pregnant and I do stuff like that all the time!
I would have definitely remembered the garage door opener. As long as I wasn't preggo:)
I just want to know why Davis didn't come up with anything- he's the current man of the house and all:).
That's a great one! I'm telling you... I think you loose them when you are pregnant and never get them back! I still do things like that! That's sad to admit... but it's true and there is no excuse! I'm glad Angie was there with you! It's always nice to have someone with you in those situations!
That is hilarious. I'd like to blame my, um, not being together on pregnancy, but I can't. I've just lost my mind. Seriously.
Ok, this is the third time that I've typed a response and it doesn't show up. Are you deleting my comments withouth me knowing it???? JK. I must be pushing the wrong button.
Enjoy your pregnancy mind...
It's the one you'll have even after they are 12. Those brain cells don't regenerate!!!
That was a great story!!!! I'm glad Angie was there to enjoy it with you.
:)
